How marketing has changed in the last decade

While marketing has always been important for a business, it certainly has changed in the last couple of decades. While previously a lot of marketing would have been in the media such as a radio or newspaper ad, or even flyers delivered in the local area, now it’s almost always done online. After all, there are a ton of benefits for brand development if the marketing is done on the net rather than traditional methods. Here are some surprising ways marketing has changed in the 21st century.

Before the birth of the internet, it would be unlikely you would have communication with your consumers. In fact, you would have to rely on leaflets or press articles to get your message across to them. But now in the 21st century, you can have much closer communication with your customers. For one thing, a lot of companies now have at least one social media account where they speak with their consumers. They tell them about new products and encourage them to head to the store to buy them. Consumers can engage with the brand and ask them questions which could potentially turn into a sale too. Therefore, social media marketing means you can increase revenue through speaking to customers. Also, websites are now a common practice for businesses and also provide an excellent way to market their brand.

Another good thing about marketing in the 21st century is that results can be accessed in real-time. Before it could take weeks before you could find out if an ad had worked in attaining more customers. So you couldn’t adjust your marketing campaign quickly to help grow the company. But in the 21st century, you can now check everything in real-time. In fact, a lot of people who work in affiliate marketing spend a high amount of time checking various statistics. That way, you know if something is working, and if it’s not, you can quickly make adjustments to turn things around. And companies like web full circle internet marketing now do things like back-link and competitor analysis for businesses on a day-to-day basis. That way, they can ensure marketing campaigns are running to the best of their ability!

The internet has meant that marketing doesn’t have to cost the bank. After all, ads used to cost a company a lot of money. And producing a ton of leaflets could also be a lot for a business just getting off the starting line. But now in the 21st century, there are so many options which are not expensive. For starters, you can often get bloggers to write about your company by sending them a product to review. And you won’t have to spend a penny to get them to put it on their blog! Also, you can now communicate with hundreds of customers through email or your site without spending a dime! Therefore, it’s made marketing much easier if you are on a tiny budget.

Tour Guide Profession

Tour guiding is a relatively young profession. The main function of the guide – to accompany tourists in campaigns, excursions, bus tours, cruises. It is an interesting profession by means of which it is possible to see and learn a lot of new, to visit beautiful, historical places, to get acquainted and communicate to interesting people and it is quite good to earn at the same time. I think, I would like to work as a guide, but it not precisely. Here are the qualities that a guide should possess:

  • People skills- You’re spending practically every hour of every day with your guests and not all of them will be nice.
  • Logistical management- A lot of aspects go into planning a holiday. Even if you’re not responsible for setting up those details, you’ll be responsible for keeping on top of them all once your group is on the road.
  • Organization- You don’t want to get mixed up on where you’re supposed to be going, or what you’re doing.
  • Calm under pressure- Anything could happen on a tour, and everyone will look to you when things go wrong.
  • Quick learner- From “Where’s the bathroom?” to “When was that built?” you’ll need to have answers at hand.
  • Good public speaker- Speaking to your group is more than half the job. You want to make sure they understand you.
  • Energetic- You’ll be working almost every waking hour, often for weeks at a time- you need to be in top form at all times.

One of the hardest parts of that job may be answering questions. Unlike a speech that you can memorize, you won’t always know what questions people will ask. You can’t always know everything but as a guide but you need to make an effort for your travellers to find out anything they may want to know. This not only ensures that you are providing the best service that you possibly can but it also means that you are constantly learning and challenging yourself. The following difficulties consist in need to work in any weather conditions and at different times day, high load of legs and vocal chords, responsibility for safe and various rest of a large number of strangers, compensation directly depends on the number of the conducted tours. And I had no experience in working as a guide, so I can’t say the good and bad sides of this work.

Wings of Tatev

A visit to Tatev Monastery is always long remembered or better to say, is hardly ever forgotten because the mind is never able to cover with oblivion anything, which causes striking and miraculous feelings in the heart. Reaching Tatev monastery might take long but it’s never boring, especially when the gorge of Tatev appears in front of you with its heavenly beautiful view and divinely inspiring nature and the awesome Devil’s bridge, which might be a real challenge but crossing it is worth a try.

There is a legend that the master who built the monastery, at the end of his work, asked to bring him two wood chips. Taking them he prayed to God and said: “ogni Surb ta tev”, which is translated from Armenian as: “May the Holy Spirit send down the wings.” After these words, he jumped into the abyss. In flight, the wings grew behind his back and he flew away, the monastery was named in honor of this miracle – TaTev, that means “give wings.”

Tatev monastery was built during the 9-13th centuries as an Armenian intellectual center where philosophers, musicians, painters, calligraphers, and monks lived. It is sited spectacularly above a sheer canyon wall with stunning views near the Tatev village in Syunik Province in southeastern Armenia. Today, most visitors arrive by way of the longest cable car in the world, «Wings of Tatev,» which opened in October 2010. It was included in the Guinness World Records as the world’s «longest non-stop double track cable car.»

Enjoy a breath-taking ride on the longest ropeway in the world over the beautiful gorge and to one of the iconic medieval buildings of Armenia.
